A few weeks back I had purchased a vice and decided to expand my knowledge into the world of fly tying. My interest grew and when it came time to create my Christmas list I decided to add fly tying materials. I carefully picked out a few items from Cabela’s website and even passed the links along to my dad who had asked for some ideas of what to get me for Christmas.
Before I go any further you need to know I have awesome parents. My parents are always thinking of me and trying to make my life easier. I grew up an only child and both mom and dad tried their hardest to make sure I was always happy and (almost) always spoiled. This Christmas would be no different.
“We got you these to save you the trouble of having to make your own”. I chuckled to myself. I think somehow my folks knew I had enough projects going on this winter. Perhaps they caught a whiff of the sawdust from the half finished fishing rod rack in my basement or witnessed the dried spray paint on my hands from painting lures. Somehow, they knew it would be better to bring me completed flies for Christmas rather than allow me to tie my own.
So without further adieu, here’s a quick peek at some of my Christmas goodies.
What a great assortment! All of these flies are made by Cortland and with this collection I should have a great head start for fly fishing in the spring.
