💡 Mesh Size Formula: The standard formula for gill net mesh size is: Mesh Size = Fish Girth × Girth Ratio (0.55–0.65). The stretch mesh size equals 2 × bar length. A hang ratio of 0.5–0.6 is optimal for most freshwater species. Bar length = Mesh Size ÷ 2.
