💡Tip-top sizing notes

Tube fit: A tube that is one half-size too small will not seat safely. The calculator rounds the required inside diameter upward after cut-back, finish build, and clearance are added.

Ring match: The ring should be large enough for the largest leader knot and close enough to the running guide train that line flow does not jump at the tip.

Selecting an rod tip requires that a person consider many measurement of the rod tip and the rod itself. The rod tip has to be able to fit within the rod blank, and the fishing line has to be able to pass through the rod tip. If the rod tip is installed too tightly on the rod blank, it can crack the rod blank.

If the rod tip is installed too loosely on the rod blank, the rod tip will wobble when the rod is under a load; this will cause the fishing line to move out of alignment. A few very specific measurements of the rod tip and rod blank determines each of these outcome, many of which a person may not even consider until the rod tip or rod blank fail. The diameter of the rod tip of the rod are one of the main measurements that a person must consider when selecting a rod tip.

How to Choose the Right Rod Tip Size

The diameter of the rod tip is not the only measurement, however. If a person has cut a rod to remove a damaged section of the rod blank, the diameter of the tip will be larger then the original diameter of the tip due
