The following list of common issues addresses some of these problems, and you can cross-check the symptoms with your Suzuki engine.

Suzuki 90 HP Outboard Problems

  1. Excessive Noise

Noise and vibration issues are first on the list when it comes to Suzuki 90 HP outboard problems.

Depending on the age of your unit, there is a good chance that you’re dealing with a broken propeller that needs to be fixed. So, you will have to check the prop before anything else to isolate the problem.

In most situations, just cleaning up the prop will remove all the extra vibration from the unit.

But if you’re dealing with a broken prop, then the only thing you can do is remove the broken unit and install a new one in its palace.

The upside here is that the prop replacement is not that expensive. Even when you’re short on budget, going with a decent propeller will only set you back a minimal amount.

So, don’t hold off on the purchase of this unit. Otherwise, you’ll further damage the motor without realizing any value.

  1. Idling Problems

Idling problems in the Suzuki 90 HP outboard are pretty common when you’re ignoring the maintenance of the unit for too long.

So, if you’re losing performance when there is no excessive load on the unit, try to check the fuel supply through the system.

There is a good chance that you’re struggling with clogged sections in the system.

To fix these issues with the motor, you should replace filters and also check the status of the fuel valves. You’ll surely find leaking sections or dirty fittings that are creating these idling problems in Suzuki 90 HP outboard.

Similarly, this issue will only get worse if you keep ignoring the basic maintenance needs of the unit.

There are no quick methods or easy fixes that will help you keep the device in perfect condition. Seeking help from an expert is always the best idea as you try to figure out the best maintenance cycle.

Furthermore, you’ll get actionable steps on how to clean the device and keep the fittings in perfect shape.

From there, it is not that hard to fix the issue, and you can keep sticking with the Suzuki outboard to find the best match for your unit.

  1. Starter Not Working

The starter issues are usually not that serious for most owners and can be linked to the defective solenoid in the outboard.

A quick fix for this issue is directly bypassing the solenoid to start the engine. So, if your starter is not working, use a multimeter to check the solenoid and replace it if it is defective.

Replacing the solenoid is always the preferred option because of its long-term performance.

However, banding a hammer on the starter section can also fix the unit. So, make sure to test your luck by tapping the unit before opening up the device.

Most of the time, these quick taps will be all that you need to fix the unit.

However, if you struggle with this system and don’t get any response from the unit, then the situation can become a bit serious. You will have to rely on industry experts and professionals to get through the issue.

  1. Sensor Problems

The community forums are filled with reports on defective sensors installed in this outboard. You will occasionally run into error codes because of these defective sensors, and the only thing you can do here is to replace these sensors.

The replacement sensors are quite cheap and will eliminate all of these error codes. You can also reach out to customer support to eliminate this problem with the defective sensors.

So, if your unit is new, just call the dealer and have him fix the issue with the defective sensors.

  1. Heating Issues

When dealing with the Suzuki 90 HP outboard, you will be dealing with several overheating problems. These overheating problems can almost always be traced back to clogged water inlets that are responsible for keeping the engine cool.

So, to fix the heating issues, you will need to make sure that extra weeds and debris don’t clog up your water inlet.

The use of a simple wire mesh is enough to fix this problem permanently, so if you’re in a situation with outboard overheating, just streamline the water flow.

From there, it is not that hard to secure a consistent performance from the unit. You will be able to realize much better permeance while also sticking to the same reasonable budget.

It will be pretty effective to stick with this option over the long run as long as you keep it in good condition.

The responsibility of the maintenance falls on your hands, and you can’t expect any response from the unit if you ignore the maintenance.

So, be mindful of the weekly maintenance cycles and spare a few minutes every week. That way, you won’t have to deal with more issues down the road.

Lastly, some owners do struggle with the maintenance themselves. It can be hard to service the system when you’re not aware of the intricate details of the maintenance process. So, be sure to keep that in mind as you try to adjust the system.

  1. Maintenance Problems

Maintenance of this unit is another major concern when it comes to performance consistency.

There isn’t much that you can do to fix these maintenance issues, and going through the instructions in the owner’s manual will serve your needs best.

  1. My oil indicator light will not go off. I have a new motor and when I check the oil the level is NOT between the holes on the dipstick. It is above it. Is there too much oil in the unit and would this cause the oil indicator light to blink?
