Do you live in South Eastern PA?  Do you have some time to kill on February 17-20?  If you like fishing (which I’m guessing you do if you’re here) you need to check out The Greater Philadelphia Outdoor Sportshow.  This show is being held in the Philadelphia Expo Center located in Oaks Pennsylvania right off of Rt 422.  Info on MA, NJ and NY shows click here

This show is jam packed full of outdoor exhibitors including, fishing, hunting, and boating.  The vendor list for this show has over five pages of outdoor exhibitors, many of whom will also be selling their products at the show.

In addition to the vendors here is a highlight of some of the attractions:

  • Virtual Fishing Simulator
  • Indoor casting pond
  • Dock jumping dogs www.keystonedockdogs.com
  • Capt. Cowboy and his horse
  • 5,000 gallon fish tank full of lunker Bass
  • Brody the 1300lb (live) bear

I don’t have enough room for all of these awesome features!  You can see the rest of the list here:  http://sportshows.com/philly/philly_features.html

The show will feature seminars from many noteworthy outdoorsmen and will also host the American Sportfishing Association’s (ASA) Bass Fishing Academy.  More info on the pros and seminars can be found here:  http://sportshows.com/philly/philly_seminars.html

The guys from Delaware Valley Outdoors will be at booths #108 and #109.  If you haven’t seen their awesome videos you can get a preview at their site: http://www.delawarevalleyoutdoors.com

If you have children this show is something they can’t miss!  They get a free Plano tackle box (first 200 kids 11 and under on Sunday) and there is even a cave where they can hunt for fossils!

From the press release: “Show hours are Thursday and Friday, 12:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.; Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Sunday 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Admission is $11.00 for adults and $3.00 for children under 12. Children under five receive free admission. For complete details on the 2011 Expo, visit www.sportshows.com.”

This show can’t come soon enough!  I may even have to create a special Functioning Fishaholics T-shirt just for this event!

Will you be attending the show?  Drop me a line in the comments below.  I personally plan on sleeping overnight at the show for the full four days (or at least until security finds me)  (:

  • I’ll be there. I’ll probably be working some portion of one of the days at the Stony Creek Anglers booth (my trout club). Last year we were by Brody the Bear and got great foot traffic!

I’ll let you know what day(s) I go once I figure it all out. Looks like the show is going to be pretty good.
